Rachel & Jason graduated from Stephen F Austin State University with Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accountancy. They both entered public accounting in 2002.
Jason & Rachel welcomed their first daughter, Maddie in 2008 and began planning the start-up of Cooner & Cooner, PC Certified Public Accountants.
Jason & Rachel purchased an existing accounting firm and Cooner & Cooner, PC opened its’ doors on February 1, 2010. Jann Butler was instrumental in transitioning clients to Cooner & Cooner, PC from the existing firm.
The firm began updating all existing software and processes to better serve accounting and tax clients. Jason & Rachel welcomed their second daughter, Jacie in 2011.
Alisha joined the team in 2015.
Lina joined the team in 2016.
Cooner & Cooner, PC began offering cloud-based solutions to their clients. This provided a more efficient platform for the clients to work along beside the firm on a regular basis using the cloud.
Shelby joined the team in 2018.
Brandy joined the team in 2021.

Jason Cooner Managing Partner, CPA
Jason has worked in public accounting since 2002. He specializes in tax preparation for both businesses and individuals. Jason leverages tax strategies to promote business and personal tax planning to help his clients achieve their goals. Jason graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2002 with a Master of Professional Accountancy and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Rachel Cooner Partner, CPA
Rachel has worked in public accounting since 2002. She specializes in bookkeeping, financial statements preparation for both businesses and individuals. Rachel graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2002 with a Master of Professional Accountancy and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Jann Butler
Jann specializes in bookkeeping and financial statements preparation, as well as tax return preparation. Jann graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting.
Alisha Nix CPA
Alisha specializes in bookkeeping, financial statements preparation, corporate taxation, and payroll compliance. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2015 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Accounting, and then again in 2018 with a Master of Accountancy. The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy granted Alisha a license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas in 2019.
Lina Patel
Lina specializes in bookkeeping, payroll and tax. Lina graduated in 2014 from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Shelby Simmons
Shelby specializes in bookkeeping, payroll processing, and back-office solutions. She graduated in 2020 from Letourneau University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Brandy Shadowen
Brandy is an administrative assistant with years of experience. She graduated from Texas A&M Commerce in 2007 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Brandy is also a commissioned Notary Public for the State of Texas.
